Stamper explains girls have their own story of support or discrimination, success also the debate of girls be allowed to compete on boys’ sports team. First, the writer Title IX explains female athletes are been treated second-class for long enough and should pass of inequalities and biases of girls. The writer also clarifies that girls doing sports make them healthier, physically, and emotionally. Other girls that don’t play sports are less likely to use of drugs. In addition, she notes a former Stanford University basketball player Mariah says, strength and independence of things girls learn from sports, the opportunities that are changing women.
Along with, when schools have sports it gives students an escape from school. Some schools don’t have a have a rule about if the student is eligible to play
In colleges the amount men and women on sport teams has to be proportional with the amount of men and women at a school because of the Title IX. But there are some sports, like wrestling and other men sports like men's gymnastics or swimming, where there are a lot more men than women are on a team. Which leaves two ways to fix that problem; 1. Get more women on the team, which may require a lot of money 2. Make some of the men leave the team.
In the first place, to address the ratio between boys and girls sport activity, the gap is closing. In fact, in 1970 female participation was nearly 0 percent in high school sports then by 1980 it rose to 50 percent and in 2000 increased another 20 percent (par. 5). The growth of women’s sports and opportunities is tremendous, however we still forget to bring along some of the other groups that are not getting their fair shot. An example of this would be the transgender or non-gender conforming students who would like to participate but struggle to find a spot. Whether it be the coaches, students, or “league rules,” these students are not typically accepted or allowed to play. Now that is a clear violation of the law, but it happens everywhere, every day. Non gender conforming students and Transgender students deserve to play and enjoy athletics.
This also relates to girls and boys. If it is not provided, both sexes have to be allowed to try out if they want to participate on the same team. Although both boys and girls play similar sports, the boys sports are given more attention. People have been entertained with football for a long time. Plenty of the football athletes have recently complained about the new rules regarding safety in the field. At times, instead of the game entertainment, people are being lured into the drama a lot of sports have such as fights within the field, objects being thrown at each other, and corruption in the major leagues, that takes a greater approach into violence. Violence within the game only makes things worse because people play more rough in the field.
Some people believe that girls should be able to play on the same teams with guys, I agree. I believe that girls should be able to be on the same team because it would save money, make the team better, and make it to where there would only be one team's day missed, not a boys and girls team on different days. I think there should be combined teams because in total, it would save the school money for the buses. There would not be as many buses taking teams to games whereas without combined teams, there would be a disproportionate amount of buses and it would just waste money.
According to an article from “azcentral”, titled, “Positive Reasons for Co-Ed Sports,” Kathryn Rateliff Barr says that,”Some small schools and communities have learned that offering coed teams allows more players to play for a smaller total cost.” This shows that if coaches may combine both male and female professional sports, the complete value of what is used for all athletics would decrease. This is important because what is left from being used on teams can be spent on accessing better equipment and outfits for future activities. In addition, according to the author of “azcentral’s”, “Positive Reasons for Coed Sports,” Kathryn Rateliff Barr states, “Coed teams can mean smaller coaching staffs than what would be needed for separate, sexually-segregated teams.” It stands to reason that not including coed teams requires more coaches, which would also include more pay and possibly higher pay.
Only around 2% of high school only athletes go to college for the same sport (“Odds of a High School Athlete making a College Team”). On the other hand, 7% of high school athletes that also participate in competitive sports go to college (“Odds of a High School Athlete making a College Team”). According to a head coach of seven years and an athletic director of five years, “Playing the same sport in school and with an outside team can help with fundamental development and understanding” (“Club Sports: Can They Coexist With High School Sports?”). Although this coach thinks it is a positive, other coaches do not. For example, another athletic director stated, “As a young athletic director, I tried to stop it.
Women athletes and women workers do not get the recognition they deserve. Men especially, look down upon women when it comes to their appearances, their knowledge and a women's physical and mental strength. In certain cases, a woman loses out on a job in the sports industry because she is exactly a woman. A male trainer can refuse to train women because of the parts her body has. Men and women have grown up in a world with the mindset that women know less than men when it comes to sports.
Sports should not be based on whether you are more interested in girls or guys sports; it should be based on which sport brings in more revenue and has the most participation
Coaches, and parents are pushing students beyond limits and eventually it 's going to catch up to everybody. We need to lighten up on youth sports and realize that they are just kids. We cannot as coaches and parents expect student to be at their greatest potential every hour of everyday. Students need time for school they need time with their friends. If athletes play the same sport year round they will get burnt out and get caught in single sport specialization.
I do believe that they should be able to be on the same team without the feeling of others disapproving of their choice. With that being said, I think we should make sports more open to both genders. Such as making a boys and girls volleyball team or a football team that allows both boys and girls to join. I know a change like that may not happen for a while, but why not start trying
