In the article “Why Good Guys Wear White” by Brian P. Meir, Michael D. Robinson, and Gerald L. Clore, it discusses the association between stimulus brightness and affect is optional or obligatory. In many American films it states that darkness is associated with evil, where brightness is associated with the good. Also according to Stabler and Johnson children tend to associate good objects and positive self-statements with a white box, and they tend to associate bad objects and negative self-statements with a black box. In this article studies are trying to prove that these statements are very true. However, these studies did not establish that brightness-affect inferences are obligatory. This article was very good. If it was a scale from 0 -100, I would give this article about a 92. It was very interesting and understandable. In terms of the results, the study did provide full support for their hypothesis. I did think there was one weakness to the study’s methodology. I felt like they should have picked a different sample of participants. They should have broadened their search for participants. Instead of using just undergraduates, they should have used a random sample of men in the world. I believe that the study would have been more accurate. No, the researchers did not suggest alternate explanations that may explain the pattern of data that they found in this study other than their theory. I can see some practical application from this paper, which are them using 100 words with both a positive negative and positive meaning putting them in black and white in order to understand if brightness is affected with niceness and darkness is affected with evil. This could be potentially used in the real world. You could use this in the real world by seeing if someone had good intentions or bad intentions. You could also use it to see if someone had a good soul or a bad soul. You would show them the 100 words and tell them to pick the words they think that best describe them as a person. If they pick mostly the words with a negative connotation, then you know they are a negative …show more content…

I would get 200 random men and women combined to be the participants for this study. I would get about 500 polo shirts for them to choose from. I would use two studies for this experiment. The first study would be on just the color of the shirt. The second study would be on the design of the shirt. They would either be bright colored or dark colored shirts. I would tell each one of my participants to pick about 5 shirts that they think they like best. If they picked mostly bright colored shirts then I would know that they are an overall good person. If they picked mostly dark colored shirts then I would know that they are an overall bad
