Thirteen Songs Why In Thirteen Reasons Why Hannah Baker explained thirteen reasons why she killed herself. One of those reasons was Justin. Justin started rumors about him and Hannah having sex when in reality they didn’t. A song that relates to this is “Our Lips Are Sealed” by The Go-Go’s. The song is about ignoring what people have to say about you and the rumors they spread. This song relates to Justin and Hannah’s relationship because people would be talking about Hannah in a negative way, and while she did try to tell them the truth, she eventually gave up. Zach and Hannah met after Marcus left Hannah in the middle of the diner. Hannah thought Zach was a sweet hearted boy when she first met him but soon realized he wasn’t. Zach asked Hannah out on a date, but she turns him down because she thought it was a dare. Zach was upset about this and started to take the letters she was given in her communication class. At that point in her life, Hannah really relied on these letters to make her feel better. When they suddenly stopped coming in she knew she had to get to the bottom of what was happening. She soon finds out that it is Zach who is taking the notes and she writes him a letter explaining why she felt she needed the words of encouragement at the time. Hannah thought she saw Zach rip up the letter she wrote him, but she’s mistaken. In fact, Zach had been keeping the letter in his wallet. A song that goes with this part of the book is “100 Letters” by Halsey. The song goes, “You wrote 100 letters just for me / And I find them in my closet / in the pockets of my jeans.” Obviously, Hannah didn’t write him one hundred letters, but the one she did write him, he always kept on
