Another example would be Montresor, he is like a betrayer. He is like that because he says he
A friend may be a foe and a foe may be a friend. First off, the author, Marie Lu, uses plot twists to develop the theme of how friends may be foes and foes may be friends. One way Marie showed this is, using Taylor, a large antagonist in the book, as a lie. She wasn’t who she seemed. Jax, a character from the book, states, “You think Taylor works for Zero, don’t you?”
It was discussed that when Thomas is on scene, he is critical to the point that it’s easier not having to deal with him or how he carries himself like he knows everything and discards
Giles shows the personality trait of being dependable by helping John during the witch trials. John wanted to go to the court to prove that his wife, as well as his friends’ wives, are innocent. Giles said he would go along with him and he did. I believe that I am dependable because I am there for my friends when they need me. If any of my friends had a bad day or need to talk to me about something, they know I will always be there.
In the short story, “The Notorious Jumping Frog of Caleveras County” by Mark Twain, there are many examples of irony. Some types of irony include, verbal irony, situational irony, and dramatic irony. Verbal irony is when someone says something that means the opposite, situational irony is when a situation’s outcome is inconsistent with what we expect to happen. Dramatic irony is when the audience is aware of something the character doesn’t know. First of all, an example of situational irony is when Andrew Jackson, Jim Smiley’s dog, was fighting a dog with no back legs.
Thomas Aquinas once said, “There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship.” In the novel, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor, Stacey should choose T.J as his friend. T.J would make the better friend because it is socially acceptable, he is able to give important information and finally because Jeremy's family has the power to falsely accuse Stacey of a crime. T.J is a much better choice for a friend because it is socially acceptable by the community. It is Christmas and Jeremy has just come to visit and papa is talking to Stacey about Jeremy and T.J.
Have you ever considered what honor really is? The are several honorable characters in Julius Caesar and it is a hard to decide who has the most honor. If it came down to it the most honorable character in the book would be Brutus. He always tells the absolute truth and never goes beyond what needs to be done. He has more honor than anyone in the book.
Which character do you identify yourself with and why? “The Black Eye of the Month Club” is an autobiography, so if the character were not believable it would be strange. The character is believable, but only to a limit. The author uses exaggeration a lot in story. I can identify myself with the character.
Throughout The Maze Runner, Thomas had a series of flashbacks. During the first one, he kept hearing a voice saying “everything is going to change.” In the second flashback, a girl appeared. She told Thomas that he has to choose. The timing of this flashback was perfect because soon after he had it, the same girl was sent up to the Glade.
Antony never had to make a choice, but had he thought that you were ambitious, it isn’t difficult to believe that he would have joined the conspirators. Shakespeare shows us that Brutus and Antony have similar qualities. In a way, showing Brutus betray and Antony stand by you was showing two different situations created by the same person. Shakespeare uses ‘Julius Caesar’ to tell readers that friendship and loyalty is almost a completely one-sided affair. One must always have something to gain from a friendship, or loose from the lack of it.
Friendship has many different impacts on many characters in different ways depending on its presence or absence. Although friendship’s presence and absence are complete opposites, they
Would you trust someone who kills their best friend for the good of their country or some guy who thinks they knew the leader? Exactly, you would want and trust a leader who would do anything for the good of their country. Julius Caesar was murder by Brutus and the other conspirators but they said it was for the good of Rome. Brutus and Antony both gave a speeches over Julius Caesars death to appeal to the plebeians. Brutus funeral speech was a more effective speech than Antony because his use of ethos, pathos, and logos made the plebeians focus on his words more.
Betrayal of friendship occurs in both the novel Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden and in Shakespeare ’s play Hamlet. Those
Nevertheless, both characters would benefit from rethinking where their loyalty should lie when a situation changes. Antony’s making of a civil war is a perfect example of a situation where one should be versatile and put the good of others before one’s loyalty to a single friendship. Different situations may also bring up conflicts of values and also stress the need to decide which value to be true to. For instance, a real life situation could be telling the police about a friend planning a school shooting. One might be a loyal friend and not want to snitch or lose their friendship, but one should prioritize the fact that people will die if not reported.
Friendships in the play are not portrayed as being good ones as friendships are for self-gain such as to get information. Lastly,
