Medical Humanities is a topic about human biology, survival, bioethics, narratives and human nature. Bioethical related technology raised ethical and spiritual questions leading to new chapter in human history. The ability to further extend human life span and life after death using advance technology created discussion regarding bioethical conflicts. I am applying for the Doctor of Medical Humanities program at Drew University. I will discuss how earlier educations and professional experiences prepared me for a doctoral study. I learned to use communications, management and organization skills, took part in collaborated discussion groups with team members on topics such as preventing, recognizing fraud and abusive events relating issues to health laws. I applied my learning from health care ethic course about the patients' rights to autonomy, justice and beneficence. These knowledges strengthened patients and caregivers' positions and understanding regarding to social responsibilities and moral integrities. Research was a dominant part of my college education, I hope it will be a primary part of my future life. While attending Saint Joseph University, I created a public health awareness research project entitled “Implementation of Palliative Care to Encourage Quality of Life at End of Life Care”. The public health program initiative was to encourage palliative care in health care to promote appropriate policies, education for health care workers, policy makers, adequate drug availability, the public and implementing palliative care services at all levels throughout the society with health care cost to improve quality of life at end of life care.
I explored into the subject of human dying with dignity, this topic included physician aided suicide, euthanasia, hospice, and palliative care. In the book of Job, chapter two, verse nine-ten, Job’s wife wanted him to end his life by himself to avoid pain in his end of lifetime. Job refused to sin and did not do so. I also do not want to disagree with God’s sovereign and point out who and when to die. Following biblical doctrine not to prolong the life of patients who are suffering, I am hoping to seek funding to help provide comfort for those suffering from pain or terminal
