EXPLANATION
Confidentiality plays an important role in the psychology field. The confidential bond between these mental health professionals and their clients represents an important professional obligation and create a secure relationship foundation within the helping profession. The concept of confidentiality emphasize that everyone has a right to privacy. Bok (1983) stated that confidentiality is based on four principles, which are respect for autonomy, respect, pledge of silence and utility. Respect for autonomy means that psychologists believe that client has the ability to make correct decisions. Respect means that psychologists respect the right of the subjects to know about their own information. Pledge of silence means that psychologists protect clients’ secrets from disclosure whereas utility means that confidentiality is useful to the society …show more content…

When conducting a research in psychology, researcher should carefully plan and manage the procedure which follow the ethics in order to maximize the benefits and minimize the risks. They have to be alert to the possible of unexpected consequences and predicted outcomes of their research. When dealing with subjects in the research, researcher should protect and respect the subjects’ right and dignity. All humans have the equal right and dignity. The subjects have the right to expect the information they provided to the researcher will be treated confidentiality. It is the responsibility of the researcher to keep the confidentiality of the subjects, protect them and avoid any harm that might happened to them. According to the case study, Dr.David should not publish the pictures of the subjects without approval of the subjects as he should keep the confidentiality of the subjects. The most safety way for Dr.David to avoid any ethical issues that might happened is seek for IRB approval before publish the
