Why Is Confucianism Still Relevant Today

When people had questions they wanted answers to, they looked towards religion, or their belief system. There were three very popular belief systems that are still relevant today back in the classical civilizations era. They are similar in some ways, and different in others. These three belief systems are known as Hinduism, Confucianism, and Buddhism. These three belief system may be similar, but their differences are more apparent. For instance, where these belief systems reside in the world. Hinduism originated in ancient India, brought together by a merge of Harappan and Aryan beliefs. Eventually Hinduism spread throughout most of India soon after. Confucianism however, originated during the time of the fifth century B.C.E.. While Confucianism mostly stayed in China, some of its beliefs are still practiced today everywhere. Then there’s Buddhism, which originated some time in the fifth century B.C.E. aswell. Buddhism at first only affected India, but soon after spread through all of Asia. By the thirteenth century however, Buddhism had nearly disappeared from India because of the rise of Islam. One thing Hinduism is very well-known for is the caste system. The caste system has been fixed to be more humane now, but is still around today. People had to take years out of their lives to study for an extremely hard test. Confucians highly praised education and wanted a very intellectual society. This however was not the same for Hindus and Buddhists. They gave up education to reach enlightenment because the path they needed to take did not require a high intellect. This is why Chinese society and Indian societies are very different in intelligence status. However, many Hindus and Buddhists believe that intelligence does not lead to a life of happiness, which is what they get when they reach
