Why Is F Scott Fitzgerald Important In The Great Gatsby

F. Scott Fitzgerald was a famous American writer in the 1920s, and was given the official name of Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1896, and later died in Hollywood, California in 1940 at the age of 44. Scott had portrayed a majority of his lifetime on the 1920s Jazz Age, and additionally wrote his most famous novel in 1925, known as The Great Gatsby. He later married his wife, Zelda Fitzgerald, and she became as well-known as he was. Zelda gained her attention in both the United States and France. When Scott was first born, he was named after Francis Scott Key’s poem “The Star-Spangled Banner”, which later became the national anthem for the United States. He also gained feelings towards love and romance, and he decided to have a look on the dreamy experiences himself. While first attending Paul Academy and then later Newman School, he had trouble fitting in with other college students, but had a much better outcome while attending Princeton. He soon played an important role in the literature major and made long-lasting relationships with John Peale Bishop and Edmund Wilson.

Although F. Scott Fitzgerald had major success while studying literature in Princeton, he soon became a college dropout. He was then able to describe his “college dropout” setting while writing his 1920 novel This Side of Paradise.
