The Reason Why the Monster Is So Cruel Have you ever wondered what causes a good person to become a criminal? Apparently, none of us want to turn ourselves into that kind of a person. Indeed, there are many reasons for that, such as having a violent childhood, mental disorder, or they are forced to do it. However, no matter what the reason is, they are all come from the habitat. For instance, a famous novel Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelly in 1818. In her novel, she succeeded in showing the profound message that very meaningful and touches to our heart. Therefore, the Creature leaves Victor’s place and tries to learn his world by copying the people around him. Apparently, his innate nature is not cruel at all, such as he helps the neighbor near the forest when they get in troubles. Unfortunately, his performance is not appreciated by those people. All in all, this can be seen as a turning point of his personalities since no matter how he tries, all of his efforts are disregarded. For instance, the monster feels that the Cottagers are his last hope for social acceptance. Thus, he decides to visit De Lacey since he is blind and most of the young people in this family often leave him alone during the day. Before coming to De Lacey house, he said that “My heart beat quick; this was the hour and moment of trial, which would decide my hopes or realize my fears. The servants were gone to a neighbouring fair. All was silent in and around the cottage; it was an excellent opportunity …” (Shelley 143). Consequently, things do not go his way; these people return home too soon. Therefore, when Felix, Safie, and Agatha see him, they freak out, and immediately dash him to the ground and struck him violently with a stick.
