The students that make up our school districts come from varying backgrounds. Many of these upbringings do not include or adhere to a traditional Christian Christmas celebration. Therefore, there are two major beliefs in this case which are in direct conflict with each other. These views are people who believe Christmas is a Christian celebration and those who do not. The first side of the ethical issue in this case deals with individuals who identify with or accept Christian values.
Halloween On October 31 every year we celebrate a holiday known as Halloween. Celebrating consists of traditional activities such as: trick-or-treating, haunted houses, dressing up as your favorite character, carving jack-o-lanterns. There’s tons of fun stuff to do on Halloween, but there’s tons of history behind it as well. For starters, did you know that in Ohio, Massachusetts, and Iowa Trick-or-treating is referred to as Beggars Night?
Halloween comes and goes, and “in a post-Halloween frenzy, the school board has come out against calling us the Devils. We are now the Merryweather Tigers. Roar. The ecology club is planning a rally to protest the “degrading of an endangered species.” This is the only thing talked about at school. ”
Today I will be talking about the holiday we call Halloween. Halloween is where we all dress up in costumes and get candy from houses on the thirty first of October. Here are three things about halloween. First, I am going to be talking the history of halloween.
I think it is extremely weird how Christmas trees are not allowed, but candy canes, another Christmas themed decoration, are allowed. I do not understand why you cannot celebrate every holiday, instead of celebrating none of them. In my mind I compare the school system before any of these exclusions to the saying, “Happy Holidays”. This saying means to me that you can be happy and you can celebrate no matter what you are happy about. Now the schools are like, “we want you to be happy but not for any reason”.
Houses that present a teal pumpkin show that they are safe to approach for children that suffer from food allergies or that have disabilities that make consuming candy a chore. It allows children to feel included and allows them to have a positive Halloween experience. The whole project was created to provide protection for children, teach acceptance, and to create more positive experiences for families.
This type of setting has the right to govern students to provide for a peaceful non-threatening learning environment as outlined in the student handbook. Students all get handbooks outlining the appearal and behavior expected while participating in school. Clothing that is appropriate can include for holidays and special groups as long as no negative words or pictures prevail such as cuss words or vulgar body parts. This is allowed to ensure students can express themselves in a calm and unalarming way. These are those symbols representing freedom of speech in the First Amendment.
Banned Books: Good or Bad? Banned Books Week has been during the last week of September, dating back to 1982 (Glencoe Public Library). There have been multiple banned or challenged books around the world. For example, To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee has been banned by a public school in Mississippi because it makes people feel uncomfortable while reading.
The classic book to Kill a Mockingbird has been banned in all 50 states. It is a classic but people have wanted it banned and not letting their student read it That 's why you can 't trust everyone to choose books for you. I believe teachers, parents and the PTO doesn 't have the right to control what students read in school infact I think the students should choose what they read.
One of the most-awaited moments of the year is right here once again. Dim neighborhoods are brightened by ghastly smiles of Jack-o '-lanterns in communities where the breeze is also slowly getting colder and the leaves that have fallen off of pines give each step a crunch. In a few days, children dressed like pirates, princesses, ghouls, and little monsters will be knocking on doors requesting goodies and several other goodies. Yet just before Halloween begins, you can delight the kids in your community by teaming up with several moms and dads and arranging a Halloween scavenger quest.
Have you ever wanted to celebrate Halloween during school? You would think that it would be fun, right, but there are many bad reasons to not celebrate it. I am going to tell you about the bad reasons about celebrating Halloween at school. Some people think celebrating Halloween during school would be a good thing, but I think it is a bad idea. First, have you seen a kids who can’t celebrate Halloween? In the article,”Should Schools Celebrate Halloween?’’the author stated that 20% of the students either stayed home or did not participate in the celebration.
Schools around the nation ban soda and candy from their campus while other schools allow their students to have candy and soda. Some schools say it’s too unhealthy for their students so they provide just the school food because it’s healthy and nutritious. Other schools do allow their students to drink soda and candy because their students often crave different things instead of just school food. Through my perspectives I say we should not ban soda and candy. I say we shouldn’t ban soda and candy because us students do crave it.
Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. After all it’s the one time of year where you can pretend to be something your not. It is a goofy and silly holiday where people are trying to be clever and silly with their costumes. Girls and women are more likely to feel comfortable transgressing gender boundaries when it comes to choosing a costume. On Halloween I saw more girls as captain America than boys as Elsa the princess.
I understand her point of view and where she is coming from because I also believe that Halloween is associated with evil, but there is no evil in trick or treating as well as dressing up as a fun character. We have agreed that the national holiday is always going to be celebrated throughout the years and there is no stopping the traditions and customs of those who do not practice christianity. We have also established the fact that we would not mention halloween or celebrate as a family as long as we live together. It is unknown if I will ever actually choose to celebrate the holiday, but I would still believe that there is no harm in giving out candy. As long as the holiday is not celebrated with the intention of being evil and worshiping satan, it should be perfectly
