Huckleberry Finn is what any child at around 10 years old wishes they could be. The boys of his town admired and looked up to him - much to the parents dismay. Although the parents of his town believed that Huck was a bad kid who never listened to instruction, the truth is that he just needed some love, guidance, and a path to follow. Growing up Huck was always considered the “drunk’s kid” . No one really paid much attention to him. He got to go wherever he wanted, when he wanted. The kids of the town were always jealous of him. They found themselves in a predicament when they saw Injun Joe stab Dr. Robinson. The boys realized if they were to tell anyone about this Injun Joe might kill them next. They agreed to tell no one and shared blood. When Tom got home he was rebuked for making his aunt worry. Huck Finn’s father, however had not even noticed he was gone. This is an example of why Huck needed some love. Although Huck Finn seemed to not be scared of anything, when the boys were in the graveyard he was afraid. Tom asked Huck “ do you believe the dead people like it for us to be here?” Huck answered “ I wisht I knowed. It’s solemn awful, ain’t it” (Sawyer, 51). The boys were not as relaxed and unworried as they portrayed themselves to be. They tried to be brave guys but they were just immature boys. The parents of the town did not like Huck. They did not view him as his own person. They all believed he would turn out like him father. Huck did not think much of his father either. When Tom asked how his father was he replied “Drunk, the same as usual, likely - blamed old rip.” (Sawyer, 52).
