There are many reasons why it is important to be properly vaccinated. First, it reduces or in some cases eliminates the risk of contracting certain viruses, such as the flu. Second, there is really no risk associated with vaccines. Also, if you are vaccinated, it makes you less likely to infect those around you. It is good for community health.
When you receive a vaccine, it strengthens your immune system against the disease that it is supposed to prevent. The vaccine itself usually is a dead virus. It prepares your immune system to deal with that disease. This is the most effective way to prevent the illness.
