If there was a census on why people enjoy theatre many different responses would arise. Some people would say theatre brings more people together. Others would express how theatre has made an impact on their lives. Then, a small percentage would state other reasons as to why they love theatre. Indeed, theatre is an art form that is admired by many. However, as much as people appreciate theatre as an art form, there are some defects that cannot be overlooked. One of those defects is there are a few plays performed and produced by people of the color. The deficit of these plays not being performed has created a gap. The gap represents the amount of interest minorities’ have for theatre since they are not being represented, or portrayed on stage. The reason is the people, who are a part of the theatre companies, believe these plays will not bring an audience. Most of the time, a theatre’s essential goal is to fill up the venue with people. In order to achieve that goal, there are many things that must be considered. For instance, the people in charge of theatre companies must figure out which plays could lure in more people. Plays like Romeo and Juliet, The Crucible, and Angels in America are known to do just that. If a theatre company decided to add a play like Les Blancs by Lorraine Hansberry to its season’s agenda, the play may not garner the same amount of attention like the others
