In Of Mice and Men we see George ended Lennie life after he murdered Curley's wife. However Lennie did it on accident with no wrong intention or cold blood. So the question we must ask ourselves is, was killing Lennie really considered the right thing to do? George’s actions were not right at all;what George did makes him more unforgiving compared to what Lennie did killing Curley’s wife. Also George might have regretted what he did later in future because Lennie was George's best friend at the time and he is most likely going to mourn him. We also never get to see why that was the only option other than jail. Yes, Lennie did have a history with harming people as well as animals but George could have also just kept Lennie closer by his side
