“Maybe ever’body in the whole damn world is scared of each other”. George and Lennie have been traveling together for all of their lives. George promised Lennie’s Aunt Clara before she died that he would take care Lennie. Although some people thought it was the wrong choice to shoot Lennie, George was protecting him from the awful mental institutions, inhumane prisons and the inexperienced health care system. George made the right choice by ending Lennie’s life because the conditions in mental institutions was inadequate in the 1930’s. Before 1960, they did nothing to protect human rights. The institutions did nothing to ensure that the patients got the care and attention needed. He killed this man who gave no consent to be killed. Euthanasia is the intentional killing by act or ommision of a dependent human being for their benefit. Non-voluntary Euthanasia also was used on Lennie. This is when the person who is killed made no request and gave no consent. In most religions it’s forbidden to execute this action and they see it as shameful. So George killing Lennie is wrong in multiple ways. “God gives people life, so only god has the right to take it away”. This is invalid because he did do the right thing. They could’ve ran off and been fugitives but there lives would have never been the same. No matter what they wouldn't have the life they planned.It would've been harder to run, then to do what George did. George did the right thing. He knew Lennie wouldn't have a good life if he didnt do what he had to do . The mental institutions were terrible, The prisons are inhumane and the healthcare was extremely uneducated at the time with their skills and
