In life, there are many people that have a different opinions about reputation being important or not. Reputation was very important back in Shakespeare’s time and even today in modern world. Everyone is concerned about their reputation because people’s opinion matter in our lives. Critiques, compliments, and our surrounding have a major effect on our reputation. We all, no matter how hard we try to convince ourselves that we don’t care about what other people say or think about us, but the truth is that we do care about other people’s opinion. When someone talks about you and you pretend like you don’t care but it affects us in some way, and also hurts us. Modern time is similar to Shakespeare’s time in some way. Whatever Iago did was because of jealousy. He can’t see anyone else be on the higher position than he is, so when Cassio got promoted instead of him, which than lead to anger and jealously. He did whatever he can to ruin the reputation of Othello and Cassio in the society so people would hate them. Jealously was the problem back in Shakespeare’s time and still is a problem in modern world too. People in the modern world do similar thing to what Iago did to Othello and Cassio. Those People try to ruin the other people’s image in front of their family and society because either those people are jealous of other people’s success or maybe those people lived a bad life and they take out their frustration on other people. These days’ people don’t just let other people live a peaceful life because they didn’t have a good life so how can they let other live a good life. Ideally, the time hasn’t changes since the Shakespeare’s time because even in the modern world people still hate other people and be jealous of their successful lives.
