In the film, The Adventures of Robin Hood, Robin Hood and his Merry Men are a group of men that all have some sort of reason to follow somebody because they have nobody else to follow. This could be either they are poor, had a bad life, or just need to do something different in their lives. They would follow a man named Robin Hood. These men were actually outlaws because they would do illegal acts, but they would do these illegal acts for the good. They would for example, steal rich people's money and give it back to the poor because they earned it more or even help out the old ladies around the forest that had trouble helping themselves. These Merry Men of Robin Hood were actually very much like knights and would follow the knightly codes such as granting mercy to their enemies, defending the weak and helpless, and protecting women and children.
First of all, one of the knightly codes these men follow would be they actually grant mercy to their enemies. In the film, there was a fight between Robin Hood and Friar Tuck when they first met. They were fighting by sword and in the end, Robin Hood de-armed Friar Tuck. Instead of killing Friar Tuck, they respected one another and Robin Hood gave Friar Tucks sword back too him.

They would live in the forest doing, illegal things, but things that would help the people that actually needed it. In this aspect, they are not criminals, but just good people trying to do good things. They followed the knightly code of defending that weak and the helpless, protecting women and children, and also granting mercy to their enemies. The reason these are all so good, is because the people look up to them as heros, and even King Richard who finally makes it backs thinks of them as good people. The reason it matters so much is because Robin Hood and his Merry Men were able to come together just to do good things for people who actually deserve
