The Ursa Major is one big constellation made out of smaller asterisms most notably The Big Dipper. The Ursa Major was named after its iconic “Great Bear” shape and usually is visible on freezing winter nights in the northern hemisphere. Ursa Major was mentioned in the bible plenty of times but was not discovered until Ancient Greeks linked it back to the myth of Callisto. The myth states that Callisto swore his loyalty to the goddess Artemis. Zeus spotted Callisto one day and immediately fell in love.

Atalanta suffered the fate of many of the unwanted babies of primitive cultures. She was abandoned in the forest to be devoured by whatever wild animal might care to have an easy meal. But the ancient Greeks firmly believed that the gods were involved in their everyday affairs and that the gods, for their own personal whims, cause things to happen to mortals. In the case of Atalanta, the belief was that Artemis, goddess of the hunt sent a she-bear to nurse the poor abandoned infant and protect her. Gratefully Atalanta decided to devote her life to Artemis.
Second century astronomer Ptolemy identified it as one of the first fourty-eight constellations and it is still one of the modern eighty-eight today. In the Histories of Education by Harold Perkin, the author makes it a point on how all colleges and universities stem from a common organizational model and intellectual history. Academic disciplines are defined worldwide in common terms. For example, the studies in Japan and Germany are similar as the studies in the United States. The beginning chapters covered medieval scholasticism, in specific how Paris and Bologna became “university of masters”. Perkin states how Bologna and the student rector determined doctor fees, levied fines to the instructors for starting and finishing lectures late, as well as not keeping up with the syllabus, and leaving the city without permission from the students (165).
I chose the goddess Artemis (in Greek mythology), also known as Diana (in Roman mythology). While I tried to research this topic on Artemis, I have found many websites with lots of great information. And I found one book called Myths of the Greeks and Romans by Michael Grant. My goal for this paper is to try and inform you more about the great Artemis/Diana. Artemis was born to the parents of Zeus and Leto.

I can relate to and fulfill Virginia Tech 's motto, "Ut Prosim" due to the fact that service is a very important aspect in my life. I believe that I have been blessed with everything I have been given in my life, including my family, friends, a healthy life and shelter. I am very grateful for all of these things, considering many people aren 't nearly as fortunate; sadly, there are far too many people who have close to nothing. For this reason, I believe that it is my obligation to give back to the community and provide service and help to anyone that is in need of it. I am a member of National Honor Society, LEO Club and Friends for Life which are all organizations at my high school that perform service activities in our community and

She is a beautiful women who does not want to accompany Odysseus to her palace as she does not want to seem unfaithful to her pending husband. “For already you are being courted by all the best men”, here Athene is showing us that the princess has many potential suitors, yet she has remained loyal to her chosen man (Homer, 1967:5.34). When Odysseus meets Princess Nausicaä it is one of the few times that Odysseus himself shows sexual fidelity for his wife Penelope (Cliffnotes, 2016). Although, Odysseus acknowledges that the princess would make a lovely bride, he declines the offer of becoming her husband as he says that he would like to return home to his own wife. The goddess Artemis is one of the few goddesses known to be chaste and protect the virtuous countryside, she is a symbol of sexual fidelity (Homer,
