So, Wal-Mart is good for most Americans by providing drop an average of 10 to 15 percent in markets than other retailer provender. For example, more than 30 percent the disposable diapers purchased in this country is sold in Wal-Mart stores. 30% hair care, 20% toothpaste, and 20% pet food purchase at Wal-Mart stores by American customers.
‘Is Wal-Mart Good for America?’ On PBS Frontline, May 11, 2015 ‘Is Wal-Mart Good for America?’ is a documentary that examines the relationship between Wal-Mart’s rapid growth and its impact on the US economy ever since it blossomed in trade productivity in the mid 20th century. The documentary, published on February 2014 by PBS Frontline, conveys a deep understanding of how Wal-Mart changed the living standards of many Americans and took consumerism and retail logistics in the U.S. to another level; by cutting costs through offshore outsourcing to China and employing cheap Chinese labor. The documentary focuses on the changing relationship between big retailers and manufacturers and the transition in pricing and decision-making.
"Is Wal-Mart Good for America?" gives a provocative examination of the effect Wal-Mart has had on the U.S. economy. The documentary highlights the changing connection amongst makers and the purported "big box" retailers, exemplified by Wal-Mart, that has added to the insolvency of some American organizations and a developing unemployment rate. While Wal-Mart supporters tout the upsides of one-stop, ease shopping, others are frightened at both the outsourcing that has made these low costs conceivable and how extensive retailers influence littler, neighborhood organizations. Cutting edge inspects the champs and the failures as it archives how: Worldwide retailers are superceding makers in settling on choices about item quality, sort and cost.
Wal-Mart is good because it produces products for consumers to buy at a low price. The low prices help people that can’t afford high price products to be able to buy what they need. Wal-Mart is probably the widest and strongest company in the U.S. business history. They have a great economy and they are the most admired company. Can you believe that Wal-Mart is the first company on the planet to report one quarter of a trillion dollars in sales $256 billion?
Is walmart good for America? Walmart is known as a famous store where everybody in america goes. But is walmart really benefiting the U.S. people. There is a lot of rumpus between walmart and the people. There is many pros and cons about walmart.
Walmart is beneficial because it create competition that
However, Walmart is good for America because it supplies jobs, inexpensive food, and a variety of goods to its consumers.
In order to keep their prices low for their consumers, Walmart buys a lot of good overseas, and also has factories overseas so that they can get away with treating their workers in a less than adequate way. For example, workers overseas can get paid as little as $35 a month, and they can receive beatings for doing work that does not get deemed satisfactory (Timothy Jordan). If Walmart kept the jobs in the United States, then that would create more jobs to strengthen our economy, and we would rely less on foreign entities. Nonetheless, they ship these jobs overseas so that they make a bigger profit and do not have to worry about government intervention. Not only does Walmart hurt the economy, but it also hurts the communities where the store resides.
Wal-Mart as a corporation has taken over the U.S., if not the whole world. With over 11,000 stores worldwide and employing about 1.4 million people in the U.S., they are one of the biggest companies that supply consumers with various products. However, the treatment towards their employees and environment is questionable. The multiple lawsuits filed against Wal-Mart – 4,851 times in 2000 alone – goes to show how toxic this company is.
Records show due to Walmart is all around the place, gross domestic prices have gone up in an amount. Even though Walmart set up bad labor and gives bad opportunities to their employees, customers still thinks it is very convenient due to the low price. Since it is all around the corner, it is easy for people to walk in and walk out in any minute. The shopping carts are also a useful tool for customers to pick up their products, they also have small drive shopping carts for disables so they can even come to the store without any help. Nothing is better than Walmart in my opinion.
They have the money to pay for overpriced produce. High prices mostly drive away people who are the cause of crime. If the residents of Thousand Oaks never requested a Walmart they probably won’t want it, due to the negative connotation Walmart has. A city that has a Walmart Supercenter is the city of Baldwin
Although Walmart may positively affect the economy it can also completely destroy it. Walmart has many different ways it impacts the economy, whether it’s positive or negative here are some reasons for positivity. “In a market economy, success goes to those that best serve customer needs.” (Semmens) which is implying walmart and it’s ability to satisfy the customer.
Walmart may be an enterprise that could crush any threat, but one thing I respect about the company is that they are a people store. One thing the film mentioned was how
The cons are that local businesses that sell the products sold by Wal-Mart are driven out of business. These businesses have lower revenues. For every gain in customer by Wal-Mart, local businesses lose out. Wal-Mart captures substantial portion of retail trade leading to bankruptcy of other retail businesses in the area.
Also, when a new Walmart comes into a new location it forces smaller businesses to the ground and that is why Walmart will always have major business. Walmart is so known around the world that many people decide to work there to get some benefits out of it. Walmart can cater to people who need to either work or shop there with the good pay and low prices of items. Yes, Walmart does have low price items that everyone is so fond of, but some people do not know that Walmart has been sued a variety of times by people who are fighting to get the overtime pay that they deserve. If people stop coming to Walmart because of these issues, then they could potentially go out of business because Walmart is fully based on society to come and
