Reading and writing are two grapes of one vine; in other words, they both come from the same stem of learning: language. Through elementary school, my opinion on reading and writing was set in stone, I loved to learn and allow my imagination to take flight. Creativity had always been encouraged in my house and has become apart of who I am. Reading and writing has allowed me to gain perspective, broaden my knowledge, and expand my imagination. Toward the end of my elementary career, checking out books started to excite me even more. When I had a book, I knew I was about to partake in a brand new adventure and that excited me.

In order to learn more and gain knowledge, I had to try more, such as: playing piano, or racquet ball, or riding a dirt bike, learning yoga poses, or even reading new books. Reading Dr. Seuss books brought me joy, in a familiar way; however, in 4th grade, it broadened my understanding, Eventually I had to move on from Green Eggs and Ham. My mom used to read to my older sister Jessica and me before bed every night. Once we read the Molly Moon series, which is about a dog that had hypnotizing powers. Every time I fell asleep I would have wild dreams about the adventures I would take with my hypnotic dog. Together we would save the world, find treasure, rescue innocent people from evil, and sometimes just walk around in the woods together. If it were not for Molly Moon, I would have never had those adventures. Feeding off of others creativity helps me think even more creatively. In one of the books the author, Georgia Byng, writes, “There’s no time like the present, no present like time. And life can be over in the space of a rhyme. There’s no gift like friendship and no love like mine. Give me your love to treasure through time” (Byng 78). A dog with hypnotic powers traveling through time has impacted my imagination for life; in fact, reading as a whole has, and will continue to, change my
