Summary:
Justin Bieber has numerous accomplishments proving that he is having a beyond successful career. Thus, it is surprising that he is arguably the most disliked icon on the planet. Ever since his overnight transformation into a celebrity he has been booed at multiple venues including NBA games, the Billboard Music Awards, and even some of his own concerts. He was even booed in his own country at the Juno Awards (Canada's music awards). These events prove his struggle to gain people's support, and also to maintain the support that he does have.
Analysis:
Why do so many people hate Justin Bieber? The obvious answer would be that he has made some immoral decisions, including spitting on his fans, showing up two hours late to his own concert, and getting caught with drugs and alcohol. Ironically being the thing that brought Bieber to instant fame, social media has magnified his every move, rapidly diffusing the news of his mistakes all around the world so that billions of people can know about it. Celebrities that lived in the 20th century didn't have social media to inconveniently put their every decision on a big-screen viewed by the world. For example, Eric Clapton was a very famous musician during the 1900's that said some racist comments such as, "this is a white country, we don't want any black wogs and coons living here" (reddit.com). Regardless, his words never went "viral", which meant that not as many people knew about it or talked about it. Today, especially with Twitter and YouTube, anything has the potential to go viral overnight, whether it is young Justin showing off his musical talents, or the teenage Bieber spitting off of a balcony onto his fans
