Should musicians use their music in advertising? I personally think that musicians should use their music in advertising to an extent. I believe they should do this for 3 reasons including, they need to make money to survive and get more music. Also, they have to get their music out someway without systems like Spotify. Finally, they need to be able to make money off less downloads. How much money does someone need to survive? Do you ever get a paycheck and look at it and think how are you going to do anything with that? Musicians have the same feeling when they look at song downloads and they have a small amount of downloads on the services they actually make money on. Without money how is a musician going to make more music? They need to make enough money to be able to live their life, and make music at the same time. If they don’t get enough money they will have to start choosing whether to make music or eat dinner at night. You can leave your phone on with music playing non stop for days and all you have to do is listen to a 30 second ad every once in a while or pay 5 dollars. How is an artist going to make money with that. If you listen to 18 songs and hour the artist 3.6 cents for you listening to that song. If you can listen to all the songs in the world, you listen to that song one time and may not hear it again for hours or days. That process is the same for every other people who listens to that song. The artist would have to have 278 people listen to the song to make an hour of minimum wage.
