The Industry DMX, a rapper in the hip-hop genre of music brings a heartfelt poem/speech about the industry. It is a vague topic because it can’t easily represent any type of industry, but this speech is mostly for the music industry. When it comes down to a hard-working person like DMX, who at one point in his life was on top of the hip-hop pyramid in the early 2000’s, this speech couldn’t have been said by anyone else. It wouldn’t hold the same magnitude, and the feedback wouldn’t have been so strong. How it works, the schemes and what the real purpose of the industry is and forever will be, is what DMX wants people to know. “The industry, man it’s not the same. Does it have to do with talent? It is just about playing the game.” From the beginning of the speech, he says flat out, this is all for show. It’s not about talent, it is a game. Understand that most artists in the music industry have a roll, or have a mask they have to wear to make life seem like its perfect for them. That is basically what is going on at this time. Within the industry, there are different record labels and empires but it is all ruled and ran by one form of government. Not only is DMX going against his own team, but clearly saying that they don’t care about him nor the artists and what they truly stand for. At the end of the speech, he gives another poem relating to his personal relationship to the industry, more than likely speaking about his boss or manager of some sort.
