First, I think that college football players should get paid because they need extra money today for college. For the first time in history, the NCAA is allowing colleges to pay their athletes cash to cover the cost of things like student fees, laundry and lunch (Cnn). To open enroll in a college out of state it is $22,958 and getting paid for any kind of sport could really help pay the cost (Prepscholar).
College athletes deserve to be paid for their dedication to sports. There has been huge controversy over this and it is considered to be one of the most debatable topics in sports. Inequality in sports has been shown in many ways. This includes women inequity, racial inequality, and coaches being paid more depending on what sport they coach. College athletes should be compensated for their work and be given rights.
If you were a college athlete, would you be satisfied with the NCAA and universities making tons of money while you know you were the reason they make so much in the first place? They put so much time and work into that sport that they barely focus on school. Some people believe that none of the revenue that universities and colleges make, should be dispersed among the students in any way. That means creating laws against giving anything for free to students. They believe that when you pay student athletes to play the sports that they want to learn. It wouldn't be considered a class anymore, instead it would be consider a job which would defeat the purpose of going to college.
Therefore should college athletes get paid? Well if they do once they graduate they will live a good life. They have enough money to pay for their house bills or etc. But what if college athletes would actually get paid,but will it be fair if only the good ones get paid and the not so good ones not?
Paying College Athletes There are several reasons why college athletes should receive a form of payment. The athletes always seem to be practicing, which means that they are almost always busy, leaving little time for anything else. Additionally, they have to go to their classes and study in order to participate in that particular sport. In contrast, giving the athletes money could potentially be a bad idea. Some athletes might receive more because their sport may generate more money.

Compensation shouldn't be about entertainment, it should be about job importance because people are trying to make the world a better and safer place not a more entertaining place.
Taking a look at the average college student, should they be paid for what they are studying? Probably not. Then why should college athletes be paid? They shouldn 't get paid just because of their athletic ability. They shouldn 't be paid because they are students, not professionals.
The million dollar question; should college athletes be paid? This is an immense debate, but if you were to ask me, I would say yes, college athletes should be paid. There are a plethora of reasons why college athletes should get paid. College athletes should get paid because of the amount of time they put into their sport, the amount of money everyone else is making off of them, and their overall importance to the school. There are a myriad of reasons that people can argue the opposite way, but, the reasons they should get paid definitely outweigh the reasons they shouldn’t get paid.
College athletes deserve to be paid because they are the only ones not being paid in the college sports industry. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) generates eleven billion dollars annually, some of which could, and should go to college athletes. “USA Today reported last year just how much money the top 10 coaches in college football made. There could be a policeman with an entire family, and an athlete will make more than them in one paycheck, while that family is making significantly less in 10 years. These reasons prove that more important jobs deserve to get paid more than athletes. Now. some athletes spend their money responsibly.
It seems morally wrong that athletes would be paid more than people who are firefighters, doctors, and police doing more valuable things than playing a game. In the same breath how much is a touchdown a three pointer or a home run
