Why Should Sugary Drinks Be Allowed In Schools

Schools in the United States have been banning sugary drinks from cafeterias and vending machines! Why can’t Butler? How come we need to put a stop to certain beverages in our schools. There are three reasons why schools should ban sugary drinks, which are health problems, taxes are now increasing, and this extravagant idea has also been successful for employees at their corporation. These are all reasons why schools should ban sugary drinks.
My first reason is health complications. Students have been having a increase in obesity ratings since 2003. Wisconsin is also twenty-third state with the highest obesity rating and in first is West Virginia. One must think about diabetes and heart diseases because in the future you may not get these problems now but when your in your twenties you may experience these dilemmas. “Obesity, which affects 17% of all American children and adolescents, is triple the rate now than from one generation ago.” Stated from Michelle Obama's campaign this means that obesity is rising to America children today and we need to stop this. So my second reason is that schools are spending way too much money to afford these drinks. “Seattle voters enacted a 1.75 cents-per-fluid-ounce tax on the distribution of sodas and other sweetened beverages such as sports drinks and energy drinks in June. That amounts to 21 cents tacked on to every 12-ounce can or bottle.” This is proving that schools are soon gonna be wasting money on the sugary drinks instead of school needs, new computers, classroom supplies.
