If a natural disaster strikes my area and the power is out for weeks, one of the limitations would be that the people would not feel that safe. Security wouldn't be enforced and since there is no security, there could be several possibilities of theft. Another limitation would be searches for any and everything. The Winners of the Shutdown When the government shuts down, there are winners and losers. The articles “Why the Democrats lost their nerve in the shutdown battle” by Robert Costa (Chicago Tribune) and “Winners and losers of the government shutdown” by Amber Phillips (Washington Post) show how the government can win when shut down. The authors are biased to one side due to their political viewpoints. Costa and Phillips use their biased word choice to show who they think won the government shutdown.
I agree that certain acts are ridiculous and unconstitutional, but I also feel that some acts are implemented to keep us safe. It seems there is a very thin line when it comes to violating the constitution, and the government sometimes crosses that line. The problem is that no one knows exactly where the line is, and different people have different views on where the the line is drawn. What I think seems necessary for national security is definitely not going to be the same as what every single American citizen thinks. The key is to educate ourselves on the matter and make our own choices when it comes to constitutionality.
The articles of the constitution work to establish the branches of the federal government and describe what powers they have. The first three articles split up the branches of government. These branches are the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. All three of the articles are to explain what the branch does. The use of these powers determine if the president is going beyond the limits of the office. Many argue that the president has abused these powers with the use of the Unitary Executive Theory, which states that the Constitution puts the president in charge of executing the laws, and that nobody can limit the president’s power when it comes to executive powers. The government has too much power as there is no one to stop it from making these decisions. Representatives are supposed to represent the people and their interests, and that includes foreigners, yet they make acts against them. The federal government possessed too much power as it could make acts as it wished, not worrying about the consequences. Benjamin Franklin Banche said, “In Turkey, the voice of government is law, and there it is called despotism. Here the voice of government is likewise the law and here it is called liberty,” (Doc. 5).
Everyone has their own opinion on government, but I have sided with Thomas Jefferson on this discussion on his claim that the government keeps the people safe. I will also add onto his claim by stating that the government is in place just to protect the rights that we possess. Also to make sure that the citizens don't abuse the rights and privileges they are given. Let's say that government didn't exist, and there was a forest. One Constitutional principle that would be threatened by regulation of the government would be popular sovereignty. In 1777 congress adopted the Articles Of Confederation which failed to give the United States an effective government so most the power went to the Federal government. The Articles of Confederation had many problems that would loss of power in the government. The Federal government wanted power in the national government and felt the Constitution would help manage the debt. The Anti-Federalist wanted power in the states and wanted limited federal power. Congress had done things that benefited the United States while the second continental congress created a government that lacked power which cause problems.

They should not be able to make decisions without peoples say in what their opinion is. Our people should have the same amount of power when they vote for something than the government deciding their own opinion while ignoring the peoples most votes. Most people should be able to decide what they want to be legal and not want to be legal because they are the ones who live in the country and are the ones who work in the country. The government just has a job just like other people and shouldn’t be treatd with more say inb votes, they are just people who run our country. They should not also take a say that they shouldn’t have more power because they will most likely will have more poweer because they are considered the boss.
In recent years there has been debate on whether or not the president has too much power. The president 's power has increased over the years, I believe that this increase has given the president way too much power. The amount of power that the president has, can cause total destruction and can manipulate people into doing things that they do not actually believe in. A president should not have some of the powers that he possess, but they are given to him simply because he is the leader of the country. In my opinion the president should be allowed certain powers in order to run the country properly, he is also the leader of the country which grants him the right to have certain powers according to the constitution.
In the united states today the government has so much power than what people may think. They have control over innocent citizens. The kind of power the government has over us has gotten to a limit where now they know where we are at and all of our private information safe on our cell phones. George Orwell’s novel 1984 gives a great example of how the government controls the people. In the novel they tell us about the government from Oceania, and how they control every single second of the citizens’ lives.
