In the 1500’s England broke away from the Roman Catholic Church and formed its own church called the Church of England. However, the Pilgrims didn’t want to follow the new church. For this reason, the Pilgrims and Puritans came specifically to America to practice their religious beliefs and to spread the gospel. The Pilgrims were a group of Puritans (English Protestants) who wanted to escape religious persecution in England.

By educators, parents, and authority figures telling graduating high school seniors that college is necessary, they are limiting the potential of that student’s true skills. College isn’t right for everyone and not everyone wants to go to college.
School is a place where you go to spend about half of your life learning about topics that simply do not interest you or that truly won’t help you in the future. The U.S government tells the teachers what they need to teach in their schools for the class curriculums, so that the students can learn a healthy amount of material. The best thing is that many high schools fail to teach their students important things. Many teachers just pass students along through their class, because they don’t want to hold them back and deal with them for another year, but soon enough most of us move onto college. I’ve seen many people fail during college, because their high school did not push them to try to achieve great grades.
First-Generation Students to Academic Success Research shows that in the Washington post a reporter by the name of Linda Bank-Santali stated that over 4.5 Million First –Generation Students have enrolled in a post-secondary institution in the United States (Bank-Santali, 2015, para. ). Not all First –Generation College Students are all the same but many experience difficulty with four distinct domains 1) professional 2) financial 3) psychological 4) academic. First Generation Students have a lot on their plates and face many obstacles that keep them from succeeding in college. There are many Barriers that first generation students face such as Low-Income status, Lack of Motivation and Low-Self Esteem.
Life is full of choices. The choice to succumb to your circumstance or surpass the expectations of society. The overall decision to go to college was made on the vision of a life greater than what was provided to me by my parents. The cliché of the American Dream is only achievable with hard work and perseverance. I believe that those are the attributes of success and the foundation of why I value education.
My family came to United States of America two years ago, and everything was new to me. The United States was very new to me; therefore, I had to learn everything from the beginning. Once I came to the United States, I started realizing there are many differences between two countries the United States and VietNam in which I was born. New environment, new culture, and the language is the biggest issue. One of the most differences is transportation.
Is College Worth The Time And money Many people go to college for many reasons the main one for most is to get a degree in something they think will give them better job opportunities which in return would allow them to have a better paying job then what they may have now. A lot of time ,effort and money go into college and so it’s understandable to think that once you’re done you’ll have a great job waiting for you . In a lot of cases it really doesn’t turn out that way, but either way college is well worth all the time and money someone puts into it.
Why College isn 't Worth the Cost When you grow up, you get pressured into believing that college is the only way to succeed. However,there are other options unless you want to waste your time and money on something that you 're not so sure about in the future. College is not worth the money you’re supposed to pay for. My mother and father have always wanted the best for me, like all good parents do. One of the many things that they expect from me is to receive a college education, something that they never had the chance to do. My parents always advise me to not to make the same mistakes as they did, to go to college so I can get a good job and not have to struggle in my life. With no alternative, my father had to drop out of school to help his family financially after his parents had gotten a divorce, and then he had received his GED.
College: Is It Worth It? As a student in high school, the pressure of figuring out what I want to do in the future is real. The idea of growing up and getting a college education seems to be always in the back of my mind and it is hard. What if I don’t want to go to college?
Americans tend to believe that going to college is a must to become successful in life. I believe that it is more beneficial to go to college than not going to college because of better job opportunities that are available after college. If you go to college you further your education and job opportunities with better pay and better benefits will be available to you. My educational goal is to earn a degree in Biology and Spanish from the University of California, Riverside, in hopes of getting a job inside the laboratory department at Kaiser. Based on labs that I have already done at the University, I found that I enjoy working in a similar setting. I would love to have the opportunity to shadow a connoisseur in a similar work environment, as it would be a valuable learning experience. I come from a low-income family in Oakland, California. The economic barrier that has restricted my family has prevented us from moving out from where we live.
Lastly, college will help me learn how to be on my own. I will gain responsibility because I no longer have my parents by my side to cook my meals, clean my room and clothes, or wake me up every morning to go to class. I will be exposed more to life as an adult while making new friends and exploring my interests. In college, there can be many distractions like parties, but I will have to concentrate and study instead of going out. I want to get the best education I can for myself
