Chapter 8
Pg 63- Okonkwo was very depressed after he killed Ikemefuna so he didn’t eat for two days and falls into a sickness , he can’t even sleep
-I think that it’s crazy because he brought this upon himself since he actually liked Ikemefuna since he was teaching Nwoye to be more masculine but he went to kill him anyways since the Oracle said he had to die.
Pg 64- “She should have been a boy” okonkwo
-Okonkwo has gender bias and won’t accept Enzima as she is which is not right he should just accept her as a woman and respect her
Pg 67- Okonkwo admitted that he doesn’t want to be viewed as feminine
Pg 69- Okonkwo thinks it’s weak to talk to women while the rest of the men in the clan thinks that’s ridiculous
Pg 71 Okonkwo thinks it’s a shame to kill palm trees and he wants to obey the law to keep his stat

Chapter 9
Pg 75- Okonkwo finally slept in three nights and then Ekwefi knocks on the door and wakes him up
Pg 76- Ekwefi tells him“Enzima is dying” and then went to the hut immediately
-He then went to go get medicine for her. This shows that Okonkwo really cares about Enzima
-This surprised me because I wouldn’t think helping a women feel better is a masculine thing to do according to his previous actions of his domination over women and beating them.
Pg 80- Ekwefi’s nine children have died and they think they have been cursed with ogbanje
-Umuofia believes that they are “wicked” but will still do anything to help keep Enzima
