Ever hear of infamous contract killer Richard Kuklinski? Or otherwise known as the Iceman. Richard Kuklinski was a family man – he had three children and a wife, it was a happy family that everyone on the block knew. Yet there was a secret that he kept from his family and many others. Richard Kuklinski was a cold hearted killer with no remorse – to him it was second nature and to others it was a shock. A boy named Charlie Lane was the leader of a gang called the Project Boys. This group regularly bullied Richard and he reached a point of no return. After a bad beating, Richard went after Charlie with a thick wooden dowel and continually hit him. His initial intention was not to kill Charlie, but Charlie never woke up. Richard removed Charlie’s teeth and cut his fingertips off so the body could not be identified. He then dumped his body off a bridge in South Jersey. The body was never recovered. He then proceeded to go after the other boys in the gang and beat them. It was at this point that he realized that he had the control and said it was “better to give then receive”. He was 6’5 and was approximately 300 pounds with tattoos. His official start into the criminal world began when he started selling pornographic material to the Gambino family. The Gambino’s started Richard off with smaller crimes such as robbery, even though he wanted to do more – so much more. He had no remorse, no emotion. He had many methods of killing. He would use guns, strangulation, knives, poison, etc. His favorite was a cyanide that was put in a spray bottle and he would spray his victims face. His methods of disposing of the bodies included dismemberment, burial or even putting the body in a trunk of car and having the car crushed at a junk yard. His favorite method of disposing of the body was placing the body in a 55 gallon oil drum. During this time, he became associated with a man named Robert Pronge, a.k.a “Mister Softee”, as he drove around a Mister Softee ice cream truck. It is from his association with Robert, that Richard learned the various methods of killing. Even by Richard’s standing, Robert was certifiably crazy. His nick name “Ice Man” came about because he would put the body in a freezer and by the time the body was discovered it was so frozen the time of death could not be determined.
