People think that the samurai’s code was extremely strict because the samurai was strong and powerful and had excellent leaders. The samurai’s code was not as strict as professors believe.First the code will be explained, second the people the samurai fought will be shown, and lastly reasons the warriors code contradicted their actions. One of the most common rules or code is respect and honor.
The code was named Bushido and included many unwritten rules. These rules were taught to the leaders and then made very clear to the soldiers. Seppuku was the act of suicide by the samurai when he was defeated or dishonored. Common sense tells us that they have the same code of bushido and them fighting would make no sense if you lived in kamakura time period because japanese citizens were familiar with the bushido code. This means that they broke the code and still didn’t have to commit suicide.. All of the rules all fit and did not contradict until they fight another clan with the same rules. Some people would say that the warriors are basically committing suicide by going to battle but they do not add the fact that some samurai will live after battle and be honored. Honored for what? Breaking the single most important rule of seppuku and not getting punished. Being defeated or dishonored was not common among samurai clans because in the early stages of training the poor minded and non-skilled applicants would be sorted out. If any soldier died in battle then they would already be dead and seppuku would not be necessary because that soldier is already dead.
