Drop It Like It Is Hot The bomb dropped on the town of Hiroshima, Japan will forever be remembered in history. The bomb was dropped on the sixth of August in 1945. It initially killed around eighty thousand people. Another ten thousand would die later from radiation poisoning (“Bombing of Hiroshima”). The population at the time before the bombing was around two-hundred-thirty thousand people. In total about one third of the population of Hiroshima was killed because of the bomb. Hiroshima was a Major event in the history of Japan and even the world. It is known as the world’s bomb (Rotter 1). This is because it was the world’s first atomic bomb ever dropped. It was a 9000 pound uranian bomb (“Bombing of Hiroshima”). President Franklin Rosevelt gave orders to drop Little Boy on Hiroshima. It was a retaliation for the attack on Pearl Harbor. Before the bombing of Hiroshima even happened, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This is the main reason, along with other minor reasons, for bombing Japan. The first of something is always a major event in history. So goes to show the first atomic bomb is a major and important part of the world’s history. It had a major effect on people during the time. Many lost their lives, but some also lost loved ones, family, and friends. Even those people that survived the bomb died later on in their life from different diseases and cancers caused by the radiation, or still suffer from radiation poisoning and can have mental and physical problems caused by it. These illnesses can be things like mental retardation. They can also be physical like some of their skin had burned off from the radiation. Their skin burned off because it was so hot when the bomb exploded. It was so hot it melted asphalt on the roads.
