The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the first and only time an atomic bomb was used. The bomb killed thousands of innocent Japanese civilians, and left few survivors. The Allies thought of using the bomb because it would instantly end the war, and it did, but at the cost of many innocent lives. The bomb was also used as a factor to demonstrate the power of the US, and was supposed to help push other countries out of several countries. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was unnecessary because it gave little benefit to the Allies and led to thousands of innocent lives lost.

Document B holds the story of Yoshitaka Kawamoto, and his experience during before, during, and after the bomb had dropped in Hiroshima. Kawamoto was in school when the bomb had dropped, and after the bomb had dropped, he was surrounded bu debris, and searched for someone else who had survived. He eventually found someone else who was alive but in horrible condition, him stating that "his skull was cracked open, his flesh was dangling out from his head" (Document B: Survivor). Kawamoto then left to find water, running past hundreds of dead bodies, and kicking the hands of people trying to grab him. Kawamoto now works as the director of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.
