It began as a clear normal morning in the city of Hiroshima Japan. People went about their day as they usually did, not knowing that very shortly their lives would change forever. On August 6 1945, the United States dropped a nuclear bomb codenamed “Little Boy” on the city of Hiroshima. Many were killed instantly and others were horribly injured. Three days later the U.S dropped another atomic bomb in Japan on the city of Nagasaki. More japanese citizens either lost their lives or had serious injuries. There was also the aftermath of the bomb like radiation poisoning in the air causing many people in Japan to become sick and die. As horrible as this bomb was, it changed the course of history, and ended World War 2. Had it been my decision to bomb these japanese cities, history would remain unchanged, meaning I would have chose to bomb Japan. After the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7 1941, it was clear that if America did not stand up for themselves, Axis countries would continue taking the lives of many innocent citizens. While making the decision of bombing a city, you don’t know what the outcome will be. However, you do know that your enemy would be greatly weakened, leaving them suffering from the loss of innocent people, and having to deal with that issue rather than fighting your enemies in a war. It could even be hypothesized that they would eventually surrender due to their immense struggle caused by the war. It is impossible to see what the future holds, however if there was a chance that my decision of bombing two japanese cities could end a great and bloody war, I would take it. It would be quite the burden knowing you took away the lives of thousands of innocent people, but in the end, you are saving more lives from being lost by ending the
