Every year students face the pressure of graduating high school and getting into a good college. The new graduation requirement that will be effective with the class of 2020 will put even more pressure on students.In fact, the National Honors Society actually only requires 25 hours of community service. If the best performing students are expected to do only 25 hours why should the entire class of 2020 be forced to complete almost triple the amount NHS students are told to do. Many students will have to face the reality of not graduating all because they did not complete.While some people believe that this be a good incentive to get out in to the world and contribute to their community but, this is very untrue.Therefore, the class of 2020 should not be forced to complete 75 hours …show more content…

Community service does not in any way help students it helps the person or thing receiving the service provide for free by our students. In the long run community service does not benefit the student. Also some may believe that forcing students to complete 75 hours of community service will give students a good experience. As a matter of fact, this in no way will be a good experience for students. They will be extremely stressed and anxious about graduating and about not being able to complete 75 hours of community service. Also people in power at places that offer community service could be cruel to the students and cause them to be mentally unstable. This affects students performance in school. Additionally, many people believe that it is not that much to ask of students. In reality, students go to school for 8 hours, then goes to work or an extracurricular activity, then goes home to complete an extensive amount of homework that has them staying up late into the night.
