Every person has a unique personality. It is good for students to express themselves because schools should allow everyone to feel comfortable in their own shoes. Schools should not have dress codes unless it has exceeded inappropriateness. Students goals are for other students to express their personality to make them feel comfortable.
School dress codes can lead people to be embarrassed, lose self-esteem, violate people 's first amendment right of freedom of speech, and some dress codes are labeled as gender biased towards women. School dress codes can very easily harm a kids chance at being successful not only in school, but in future life as well, if they never feel comfortable in their own skin. If they can not show off who they truly are, then why do schools highlight the importance on a child 's social emotional learning, if they themselves are harming the kids. Although school dress codes do take away economic differences in school, does that qualify as a good enough reason to harm a child’s right of self-expression? I don’t believe, children need to be taught to share with people who they are and not be hiding behind a piece of clothing they were told to wear.
In the article, Arguments Against School Uniforms, it says “ policies(dress codes) place limitations on freedom of expression…” This quote explains why most kids think dress codes are living nightmares. When all students look the same, it doesn’t let them express who they really are. Whenever kids wear what they want, they can express their personality through what they wear. On the contrary, the only problem about not having dress codes is that some kids bully each other for what they wear, which is totally unacceptable.
To begin with, students shouldn’t wear uniforms because it violates a student’s right for freedom. For example, quoting, “https://www.greatschools.org/gk/articles/school-uniforms/” by Marian Wilde, “School uniforms violate a student’s right to freedom of expression...makes a target for bullies from other schools, are difficult to enforce in public schools, and are a financial burden for poor families.” This means that some families aren’t able to afford the school uniforms. Some parents and people think when we give them uniforms it takes away their freedom of expression and restricts them from showing who they are. This is wrong. They can still express themselves in many ways, such as: wearing unique tennis shoes, styling their hair however they want, mix and matching the uniform pieces, wearing fun jewellery, etc. They can also wear the fun clothing outside of school, whenever they want. Uniforms make it so everyone looks together and one, so no one gets better or worse treatment for what they wear.
This is one of those debates that happens over and over again. My judgement on school uniforms is a yes and a no. It would stop bullying over clothing but it basically tells the kids that they can’t express themselves at school. School uniforms would stop distractions but the children would feel like they can’t show their differences in clothing like some kids like colorful stuff and some have traditional clothing and some like certain things that they like to dress in. School uniforms are not a bad idea but the flaw is how the uniforms affect the students minds.
The limitations for school uniforms are more strict then ever now just because they type of clothing that young kids or young adults are wearing today. School uniforms limits students freedom of expressing themselves. All over the world students are required to wear a uniforms just to make the school look good or have a appropriate professional look. Not enough students has a chance to have a self image
School uniforms make every child the same, leaving students no individuality. Many people think that school uniforms are unfair and plain, while many others believe that there are valid reasons that these students should be forced to wear the same exact thing as their best friends and their enemies. Enforcing students to wear uniforms that are the same as everyone else is very expensive for families, creates negative attitudes that result in poor behavior, and limits the individuality in each student. Some students have to work hard to get scholarships to private schools because they can’t afford it, so therefore they can’t afford uniform fees too.
And So form kids wearing uniform to having free dress uniform should not be required for lack of communication. Envision waking up every morning to put on the same outfit and walk out the door, stress free. People would not have to worry about what fits, or what is fashionable at the time. Schools would not have to worry about inappropriate clothing but at the same time, that clothing may be a way for a student to express himself. Many schools view uniforms as a solution to several problems, but many schools view uniforms as a lack of self expression. School uniforms should continue, even though children may not get to express themselves, because they prohibit violence, provide cheaper lifestyles, and promote better education.
Imagine you are sitting in a classroom filled with polite and poised children dressed all the same in their school uniforms. You feel peaceful and chaos free. School uniforms are required in a lot of public schools throughout all of america, but some aren't. This issue is affecting plenty of citizens throughout the united states. School uniforms should be required in all public schools across the united states because, school uniforms reduce the amount of distraction in the classroom, school uniforms create a positive, no violence culture and climate on campus, and lastly school uniforms end the competition between the rich and poor, weather it being about who has the nicest or most new up to date clothes.
Many students that know uniforms will be beneficially, but don’t agree with school uniforms will continue to disagree with implementing them. It can be easily agreed that school uniforms may take away their self-expression in school, but what matters more in school is the way of learning. It can also be agreed that many students do not accept the self-expression of their classmates and make fun of them. Students, parents, and school administration should be able to recognize the benefits that school uniforms come with.
Should we have school uniforms? it’s hard to think that something as little as wearing school uniforms could help in how a student learns but if you think about it, it affects a lot of things. People think applying school uniforms restricts a students freedom of expression. However it is rather weak argument. Uniforms do not take away a students right.
School uniforms give students a sense of unity because they feel like they can fit in without fear of being too different. Making a dress uniform mandatory will decrease sexual harassment, create more interesting humans and make schools safer. A school uniform would make schools safer. The idea of wearing uniforms to schools was originally introduced to reduce violence in schools in 1996 by the Department of Education (Underwood, 1).
