Why Youths addicted to drugs in Canada and what are the consequences? In Canada majority of the youth population especially youths on the streets nowadays are addicting to drugs and substance use. The substances such as drugs injected or non-injected, smoking and alcohol being use by youth and its trends are much higher among street youth as compare to the general youth population. Research done by Public Health Agency of Canada demonstrates that approximately 80% of the street youth population is addicted to cigarettes and consuming half pack per day. In addition, 76% of the interviewed youth consuming alcohol and 20% injecting drugs respectively. Home life situations such as family characteristics and the reasons that youth leaving their home are among the leading causes of being homeless and accept life on the street; and as a consequences youth being addicted to substance use and sexual behaviors. …show more content…
This means, standard of living among families mostly encourages young generation to be hopeful from their life and to accomplish their goals. But, in most families youth discourages due to issues such as divorce among parents, being their parents jobless or their parent being jailed to some point. Therefore, youth due to these unsatisfactory living conditions are leaving their parents and become homeless.
