Wes Pomeroy was the head of security at Woodstock. He originally said no to helping out with the event, but after Stanley Goldstein, director of operations, told him the reason for the event and the goal they were trying to reach, Pomeroy agreed to help out because he believed in what they were trying to accomplish (Makower, 1989, p. 60). Pomeroy was a highway patrolman, World War II veteran, and a chief deputy in California for years. He agreed to help with Woodstock without using violence of any kind because they wanted this to be a peaceful event (Makower, 1989, p.61) Throughout the event, Pomeroy tells about all the drug use, how dirty everything was, sexual freedoms and how happy everyone was.

Explain Nathan Huggins understanding of the historical development of Black Studies. Nathan Huggins describes the changes over several decades for the historical development of Black Studies. During these eras, there were three major objectives for Black Studies from scholars, administrators, and students alike, felt the need to address “the political need for turf and place, the psychological need for identity, and the academic need for recognition”. In the fifties, Afro-American Studies was called “Negro history” (p. 325) and was considered “a subfield of American history” (p. 325) because there was a lack of recognition for the scholars in the field.
According to Matt Seitz, the word “Negro” started to fall out forty years ago. He mentions that “the word negro was easier for people
MULTI-TASKING BEAUTY QUEEN- WHAT MORE CAN YOU DO? By Emma Ross Debbye Turner - known by most people as the Miss America of 1990, the inspirational lecturer, and the lively TV host. However, there’s more to meet the eye than the many roles she plays.
Yes, skill base jobs are out there, if you play sports. Everyone can play basketball, but not everyone one can play professional. You can have the schooling, the 250$ Jordan’s, 5000 dollar basketball training camps, but still it comes from hard work and worst family genes. It is very hard in American to be this exclusion to the rule person. People like Muggsy Bogues not only had skill(s) but luck.
In the nineteenth and twentieth century of the advertising scene, African American adults and children were used to advertising products that the public chose to refer them as "pickaninnies" or more offensive the African Americans were named called a "darkie." Most of the time, they are ridiculed in American advertising because of their skin color. The term "Sambo" is "the most effective ethno-racial term used in advertising." (title,.. 27). The derogatory term "Sambo" describes Blacks as low-class citizens who would do anything to grab the attention of the White's.
Although the term was used to describe African Americans, the term was always used to oppress and dehumanize African Americans, treating them as a lesser being and making them feel
Descrbed as being the "first village of London," Chigwell is a small viallge with a population of approxaimtely 15,000 people, which can be found 11 miles North East of London. As far as the originins of the city's name go, it is beleived that CHigwell means Cicca's well with Cicca being an Anglo-Saxon personal name. However, folk etymology, proclaims that the name was derviced from a lost king's well, whcih was supposedly located south-east of the village center near the border of what's now known as the London Borough of Redrige. CHigwell was intially isutain whitn the hear of the fores of Essex. At one point, the forest was vast, until 1301 when it was greatly reduced and broken up into several royal forest by Edward I. By the 1640s,
An ideology was created that justified the use of deceit, exploitation, and intimidation to keep African Americans bared in every major societal establishment only to offer legitimacy to the racial hierarchy. ("Nigger (the Word), a Brief History") Ministers would preach that God was white and had condemned African Americans to be slaves. Scientists would measure the brains, faces, and genitalia, of African Americans only seeking to prove that Caucasians were genetically superior. Caucasian teachers, teaching only Caucasian students, taught that Blacks were less evolved cognitively, psychologically, and socially ("Nigger (the Word), a Brief History") With that information in hand it is safe to say that for over the course of 245 years (PBS) no other word existed with the sole purpose of demeaning and lashing out cruelty to a single group of people quite like
The adage “once you go black, you never go back” was a rule. We had a neighborhood store- Mr. Glenn’s. He was the only white grocer on our side of town, he would inflate the prices of his goods, however, we knew that he was a little shady, still we frequented the store until he closed and moved out of the community. We patronized Piggly Wiggly, Safeway or some other grocery chains out of our immediate surroundings.
In rap and hip-hop music, “nigger” is identical to words such as “homie,” or “brother.” I don’t even have to turn on the radio to know what I’m going to be hearing. Songs about “fat asses,” “bad bitches and strip clubs,” “guns,” “money,”
To call someone a Nigger is with-out-a-doubt saying that person life’s is meaningless, useless and therefore unworthy to be in this world, changing the syllables makes no difference. The word racist too is a word use to by someone you devalue a fellow human being base on the color of his skin, and don’t believe his/her race should integrate with that particular race. What we failed to realize is that we as the common people were programmed and brainwashed to live by standard that represent good and bad. White being good and Black being bad. It goes like this, since the slavery days that dates centuries ago, blacks has always been deemed inferior.
I have plenty of memories of people being called “crackers”, “white trash”, “porch monkey”, and even a few “niglets”. From those
Crooks is a black man who has been given the nickname because of his crooked back. He is another character in the novel that is discriminated against. Similarly, as Lennie and Candy are discriminated because of their weakness, Crooks is discriminated because of his race. For example, he says how he “ain’t wanted in the bunkhouse… can’t play [cards] because I’m black” (68). His race causes him to be separated from everyone else and be isolated in his own room.
