Beowulf is portrayed as an anti-hero in the “Beowulf” animated version, 2008. However, in the “Beowulf” 2005 film, he is portrayed as a hero. In the epic poem, “Beowulf”, the character is a slayer of multiple creatures, travels to Dane land, Hrothgar’s meed hall, kills the giant troll Grendel, becomes king because Hrothgar kills himself, and rules with Wiglaf in multiple different occasions. Beowulf is a warrior and a king in the animated film. In the “Beowulf” 2005 film, he is a warrior throughout the whole entire film and not once is he the king. He just returns home after the troll Grendel is dead.
Beowulf is a warrior in many aspects. Beowulf is a leader who slays monsters in order to lift other’s curses. Beowulf is a brave hero for what he does to save the people. Beowulf is a Geat from Geatland. He is also very handsome in both films. In the animated version from 2008, he does become king for killing Grendel. But in “Beowulf” the 2005 film, he kills the giant troll Grendel and gets sent back to Geatland with a ton of gold. Beowulf has a friend Wiglaf along his side with slaying monsters, dragons, trolls, sea creatures, and any other creatures that need destroyed in order to lift the curses from the Danes who are cursed along with the king which the are in search of a warrior to help them out. The curse of Hrothgar was a giant troll named Grendel. Grendel was a very angry creature with Hrothgar and the danish people.In the animated film, Grendel’s father was, the danish king, Hrothgar. In the “Beowulf” 2005 film, Grendel is a mean creature due to Hrothgar killing Grendel’s father in front of him when he was just a child. Grendel’s mother was a sea creature. She would be a carp.
