John J. DeGioia (President of Georgetown University), is on a mission to remember the myriad of slaves that were stolen from their homes and shipped to the North America. Mr. DeGioia is one of many college presidents struggling to memorialise slaves forced to work on the grounds of the University. Student protests have opened many sets of eyes to the enslaved African Americans who have been long forgotten. Mr. DeGioia has been meeting with many alumni members discussing whether Georgetown should apologize from profiting from slavery, the creation of a memorial, and scholarships to the slaves descendants. His efforts have been met with mainly positive responses, but some alumni have criticised Mr. DeGioia.
In his article, Ludden argues that whether or not social media affects your loneliness depends on what you do with it. He examines studies that present that those who use social media to connect with friends who are farther from them experience more loneliness than those who use it to connect with friends who are closer to them. He also claims that the use of social media to examine other people’s activities and lives without participating can increase loneliness and socially awkwardness in the real world, especially when this is being done to compare one's own life to others. The Final Chapter of William’s “Help Me Find My People,” elaborates on the feelings freed slaves felt reuniting with loved one. After the civil war, many of the free slaves sought out to find missing sons, daughters, wives and husbands. The chapter includes slaves describing their experiences of meeting their loved ones for the first time again as jubilant and unexpected. Mothers searched for their children, wives for husbands and siblings for one another. Consequently, the hardest part of the search was finding that their relatives have remarried, died, or simply did not remember who they were.

In her document “ The Fakebook Generation,” later to be published in the New York Times on October 6, 2007, Alice Mathias enters the topic of the most used social networking service worldwide, Facebook. Mathias debates on Facebook’s claim of being a forum for “genuine personal and professional connections” and tries to influence her readers to ask themselves if the website really promotes human relationships. The author illustrates in her document the power and impact Facebook had on the population by convincing to be “a place of human connectivity,” but states her idea of Facebook missing its real reason of enriching human connectivity. Mathias goes on how Facebook became more as an “online community theater” than a functional service tool. She provided examples like people who announce relationships with Chinese food in their status in order to make others laugh instead of providing useful updates.
Not everyone that a person once associated with still lives in close proximity to said person and thus allows for people to reconnect with people from all parts of the globe that have access to internet.
