The 1920s is a time of technological, economical, and social exploration. Myrtle, Daisy, and Jordan display the full image of what it is like to be a women in New York during the 1920s. They each have a personal struggle with society and the fight between what they want and what is expected of them. Each of these women wants to experience the glamor of the 1920s but has to maintain some of the traditional elegance of a woman. If the neglect to do so, they are treated harshly by society.

Dazzler, chapter two of Chris Claremont's X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga, unfolds the desperate struggle for unity in the X-Men team as Queen White and her goons secretly hunt them down. Throughout the plot a newly-seen power struggle in the hero's is shown, leaving the reader questioning whether or not the elite-fighting force is actually what they are made out to be. This plight directly reflects Hannah Arendt’s theory of strength in her essay “On Violence”. By connecting the X-Men’s struggles with Arendt’s description of strength, the reader can better understand the effects that physical, mental, and emotional strength have on the feeling of fear in superheroes. Physical strength, a common characteristic among several X-Men, is used by most of the superheroes as a means of coping with a problem in the plot.
One of societies biggest faults is unrealistic body images for both men and women. This issue has resulted greatly out of the image of the ‘nuclear family’ or ideal family. It gives people the impression that if they do not look a certain way, then they are virtually useless. This mindset part of the cause of 1940’s-50’s sexism and gender norms. The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury is excellent as acting as a cultural mirror, and Bradbury did a wonderful job at discussing issues such as race and gender.

Tannen’s articles on opposite sex communication have influenced many people on how they now interact with the opposite.
Anne Sexton never had a good relationship with her parents, especially her dad. Later in her poem, she referenced this, she writes using personification: “my mother 's window a funnel of yellow heat running out” (9-10) proving her point of a simple childhood. By personifying she accessed the sense of touch and feel. She accessed these senses because people can relate and feel like they are there. This helped create an interest for all readers for her to show how relatable and enjoyable her childhood was.
“The Wisdom of Eve” is told in a first-person perspective by an unnamed narrator. The narrator’s friend, a theatre actress named Margola Clements speaks to the narrator about her experience meeting her biggest fan, a woman named Eve Harrington. Through the way Margola speaks of Eve, it is clear that Eve will in some way betray Margola at some point, resulting in dramatic irony. Margola’s husband Clement tells her of a woman who would stand at the theatre entrance and watch Margola come out. The woman wore a red trench coat and did not attempt to interact with Margola in any way.
