Did he, or did he not? That is the question. Many people doubt that Shakespeare wrote his own plays. There are many theories going for and against whether he wrote them or not. Some of the theories saying he didn’t write his own plays are, being an individual of common birth, there is no way he would have the necessary grasp of languages, political theory, and history. Another theory is that the language and the writing style of his plays are too varied; therefore it would require many authors, and not necessarily including Shakespeare. Many people believe that Shakespeare couldn’t have written his own plays because of the class he was born in, saying that he couldn’t possibly have a grasp on the languages used, or the history in the plays. …show more content…

The works of Shakespeare contain one of the largest vocabularies of any single English writer. Britain’s greatest biblical scholars, has 12,852 different words. There are 29,066 different words in Shakespeare’s canon. Shakespeare had at best a grammar school education, but possessed one of the greatest vocabularies of any individual who ever lived, that’s a little hard to believe that he had no help writing his plays. Bacon is a favorite candidate for who actually wrote Shakespeare because he wrote some of the earliest modern works on codes and ciphers. Why Bacon or any other writer would write such masterpieces and just give credit to anyone else is still a mystery. It has been suggested that Sir Francis Bacon had left hidden clues in codes and ciphers in the plays which reveal that he alone, and not Shakespeare, is the real author of all the plays. There are also many people who believe that Shakespeare actually wrote Shakespeare, they believe that Shakespeare attended the Stratford free school where Greek, Latin, and other foreign languages were heavily studied, which would give Shakespeare some of the knowledge that he needed to write the plays. The textbooks used at Stratford covered much of the same material that Shakespeare refers
