How could have Gatsby died, when everyone was great friends with him. In, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald; it shows how everyone’s American dream is different. Gatsby American dream was to find the love of his life and he found Daisy. At first, it shows how all the men were fighting over Daisy and conflict appeared, then finally at the end death happen because of jealousy. Wilson was quiet, so that is why he was suspicious of the death of Gatsby. Significance, is that Wilson is suspicious of the death; considering he wasn’t a quality friend, he was unstable, and Gatsby killed his wife. Perhaps, Michaelis was a man that was Wilson friend and he worked at a coffee shop. Michaelis states in chapter 7, “…Wilson wouldn’t say a word – instead he began to throw curious, suspicious glances at his visitor and ask him what he’d been doing at certain times on certain days” (Pg. 136). This explains that Wilson wasn’t saying anything to anybody what he was doing during any day. Also, people started asking what he was doing, and he wouldn’t tell anyone. Then Wilson says, “” I’ve got my wife locked in up there,” explained Wilson calmly. “She going to stay there till the day after to-morrow, and then we’re going to move away”” (pg. 136). This quote means that Wilson was only thinking about leaving the area with his wife, so he locks her away, so Gatsby couldn’t find her. Nonetheless, Wilson also wanted revenge. More importantly, Gatsby killed his wife, so he wanted revenge back to him. Wilson says, “He murdered her” (Pg. 158). To be observed, someone killed Wilson, wife and now he is trying to find out who did it, but nobody is saying anything. To elaborate, Nick states, “It was after we started with Gatsby toward the house that the gardener saw Wilson’s body a little way off in the grass, and the holocaust was complete” (Pg. 162).
