Ok,ok so I’ve got a joke - stop me if you’ve heard it. Depression, Anxiety, and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder walk into the woods and...wait no that's just The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. You heard me right folks, the characters of Winnie The Pooh have almost as many mental illnesses as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. Now, yes, I do apologize for ruining a beloved childhood classic by playing an amatuer psychologist but with doing so I will give you a different perspective on something that is often viewed negatively in today’s society. While Piglet may seem a little irrational at times, he really can’t help it. Why? Well according to my amateur analysis, it’s because he suffers from General Anxiety Disorder. The general concept of “anxiety” is nothing new to anyone, but the specific reality of living with an anxiety disorder might be. While many people will experience symptoms of anxiety from time to time, dealing with it regularly is a whole different ball park. People with anxiety tend to overthink things or blow them out of proportion, worry excessively, have a hard time making decisions,and usually experience large amounts of fear. These symptoms are displayed by Piglet, who always shies away from new adventures. Though Piglet does love Pooh Bear his anxiety frequently becomes so crippling that it seem almost impossible for him to accompany his best friend on his new expedition in the 100 Acre Woods. Poor little Piglet just wants to be able to be like everybody else but he just can’t. Somebody like him can be called a pessimist but this isn't the problem, there is a real problem that they can’t help and they know that it's annoying to everybody around them because guess what?
