Winston Churchill during WWII
Winston Churchill was one of the most influential if not, the most influential person in British history. In this paper, I will talk about how Churchill rose to power, Churchill’s role in WWII, Churchill’s similarities/differences to other influential leaders during WWII, how Churchill changed over time, and how Churchill impacted WWII for his country.
Winston Churchill was a man of many occupations throughout his life. Winston Churchill was born on November 30, 1874, in Oxfordshire. Churchill as a kid had social status but not money. Throughout the war, Churchill was restless and delivered speeches that were heroic, defiant, and energetic. Churchill hurt enemies with words and could put great fear amongst Great Britain’s enemies with just a speech. Churchill had a vision of Britain winning the war from the very start. Churchill was a major player in the battles of Dunkirk, The Battle of Britain, and The Blitz. He helped a lot with forming the Allied Powers’ strategies throughout the war and adjusted the strategies according to the circumstances. This happened because this was the second world war and Churchill was experienced from the last war and would not let Germany get away with their wrongdoings, this gave Churchill a lot of energy and determination throughout the war which fueled his hate against the Nazis. Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin, etc. Churchill did not like Hitler’s idea of Nazism and this sparked a rivalry between the two during WW2. Compared to some other leaders, Churchill was not afraid of Hitler causing him to stand up to Nazi Germany instead of appeasing them compared to other leaders such as Neville Chamberlain who was former Prime Minister of Great Britain and was afraid of Hitler and went along with Hitler to avoid war. Churchill considered Nazism as their greatest enemy. Churchill admired Hitler because of what Hitler had to go through in life, as Hitler had faced rejection many times and failed at many things. Winston had a unique style as a leader, he rallied the Allied forces with his powerful speeches and was a very good strategist. Churchill was a creative thinker and could think of solutions in the most difficult situations. Unlike most other leaders, Churchill was not as experienced as other leaders in terms of military strategy however, Churchill was more experienced as a politician compared to his competition.
