The wizard of Oz tells the tale of an orphaned teenager named Dorothy. After a horrible encounter with her neighbor Miss Gulch, who tortures her dog, Dorothy begins to dream of life what her life might be like over the rainbow. Miss Gulch displeased with how the situation turned out, showed up with an order the following day to take Toto to the sheriff and kill him. However, Toto escapes from Miss Gulch’s confinement and returns to Dorothy where the two decide to run away from home without Miss Gulch’s knowing. In the midst of their escape, a cyclone appears and carries the two to another land known as the land of Oz. Dorothy is advised to follow the yellow brick home to the Wizard of the Oz if she wishes to return home. She is also given ruby slippers to protect her from danger. …show more content…
As the group sets out to find the Wizard of Oz in hopes he can help them, the Wicked Witch of the west soon catches up to them and captures Dorothy. After the witches monkeys had displaced the rest of the group all over the land, they reunite and in hopes of saving Dorothy. Scarecrow, Tinman, and the lion are able to sneak past the witches castle dressed as guards but are soon caught causing Scarecrow to get caught on fire. In hopes of saving him, Dorothy splashes him with a bucket of water only to have the witch disintegrate after being infected by a bit of the water. The gang then set out to find the wizard of Oz so Dorothy and Toto can return home. Once arriving at the wizard’s house, Toto reveals the wizard’s true identity and as an apology offers Tinman, lion, and scarecrow what they each desired. As he is about to take Dorothy home in a hot air balloon, Toto jumps out in pursuit of a cat. Dorothy follows and the wizard is unable to stop the
