In Geoffrey Chaucer's the Canterbury Tale there are some similarities and some differences in the story's, but specifically the Knights tale and the Lawyers tale have the most in common. The common themes are the death of their lover, the way women are viewed, and the deadline given to do a task or time spent at sea. However both stories aren't entirely the same. For example, the religions and treatment of women are different in the two tales. In the Knights Tale the main characters Emily is seen as a prize because of her beauty. The two men Palamon and Arcite fight over her, resulting in the death of Arcite. Then, before he passes, he tells her to marry Palamon. There is no resistance from Emily even though she loves Arcite. This similar view of women is seen with Princess Constance in the lawyers tale when the sultan converts to Christianity to marry Constance because of her beauty. However, in the lawyers tale there are two monotheistic religions Christianity and the Muslim religion. In Polytheism sees the gods as forces in the physical world explain nature. There are specific gods for thing like love or war as see when the Knights got to Venus and Mars. Unlike monotheism where there is one God that is see in natural world and the spiritual world. In monotheism God is in charge of of ever thing. Likewise mono and ploy both have some things in common. In the religions they are allowed to bring offering to their God or gods to try and please their God or gods. An offering is typically brought when asking for something of great importance to the individual that is asking. There is one similarity between poly and mono that might not be seen as easily but that there is a single divine entity that has to be answered
