“Dom Casmurro” written by Machado De Assis has plenty character comparisons with that of “Othello” written by William Shakespeare. One of the comparisons is blatant and this is the resemblance of Capitu and Desdemona. The women are both the wives of prestigious men, and are accused of adultery. Both of these women lose their lives before the accuser does leaving their husbands in solitary. But some of these comparisons are no so easy such as Dom Casmurro and Othello. Not only are both the actual names, of the story written about them, but both are fueled with jealousy and paranoia. They both ultimately lose everything and everyone.
