But I’m here.” Alice Walker is the author of the book The Color Purple, she is an active member of the Civil Rights Movement, who fights for freedom and equality for African-Americans. Also she’s part of the Woman’s Rights Activist, who fights for the same rights as man. When she was little, she was injured on her right eye that left a visible mark on her face and she became self-conscious. She thought she was ugly and withdrew herself from the world. The Color Purple is about a young African American girl name Celie who writes to God about her troubles and life in general. She writes to God like how she would write a close friend. God has always been her only friend since she is completely isolated and abandoned by society. She writes to him expressing herself and asks questions why certain things happened in her and what did she ever do to receive it.
