Discrimination between men and women’s sports have been going on for many years now, especially in women’s soccer. I believe women’s soccer deserves a lot more credit than they receive. Unfairness exists between the extreme publicity men’s soccer receives while women’s soccer gets punished. Another unfairness is the wage difference between men and women’s soccer and although it improved over the years, it has not nearly reached being close to equal. In regards to discrimination against women’s soccer, America’s promise of equality has not been reached because it goes unnoticed that women get paid so much less than men, and in the future, hopefully members of the women's soccer teams can unite to emulate the wages between their male peers. …show more content…
The men’s soccer world cup started in 1930 while the women’s soccer world cup started in 1991, which shows a drastic difference and I can’t believe the women’s world cup didn’t start until so long after. In a way the discrimination and wages between men and women’s soccer have improved since the past but still should be more equal than it is.
A quote I believe supports this, “It’s 2019. Why are we talking about this? It should be equality,” Chastain tells The Ringer. “It’s such a foregone conclusion that yes, men and women doing the same job should be paid the same amount.” “And yet, for all the symbolic progress and abstract fame, the gender inequality issues that plagued the ’99 squad persist” (Kliegman). This quotation supports my claim because you can even hear from a women soccer player that the wages should be equal now and she wonders why it still

Soccer denied discrimination. The USWNT players responded simply to U.S. Soccer’s denial: “We look forward to a trial next year after the World Cup” (Kliegman). They worked together as a team to start a trial against the discrimination and wages. Lastly, I think of a quote that connects to my topic:, “In 1999, there was no espnW site; no beat writer assigned to cover the USWNT and women’s pro soccer” (Kliegman). I believe the quote displays that things were especially bad in the almost 2000's, which isn’t that long ago, that comes to show that this has been a terrible issue for too long because women aren’t truly known for what they should be known for. They have incredible soccer teams and don’t get recognized for it.
These quotations give valid evidence and descriptions that back my original statement of how women’s soccer gets truly discriminated against. I believe these quotes heavily relate to logos because they really show the logistics of how things work in today's world and go in depth on how this has been an on-going issue for many many
