Interestingly enough, women's suffrage in the United States was first brought up at the Seneca Falls convention in 1848 where it was considered to be “too extreme” (“One Woman, One Vote”). The Women's Rights Movement was a movement where people fought for women's rights to vote taking place in the United States. This idea was first brought up at the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848 by Susan B. Anthony, where the idea was ridiculed. A few years later, the movement started and women attempted to get voting rights state by state, until in 1920 when the 19th Amendment was passed. The Women's Rights Movement achieved suffrage through publicity, civil disobedience, and strong leadership.
However, women remained barred from the ballot, regardless of race. Though the Suffrage Movement started as a women’s social movement, it evolved into a driving force that would hold the power to ratify a nineteenth constitutional amendment. The Women’s Rights
Women used many different methods to earn the right to vote in the Women’s Suffrage Movement. One method women used to earn support is that they organized a parade in Washington, D.C., the same day the president was coming into town so that there was large crowds. Many of the people in the crowd were men who, along with drinking also disagreed with the right for women to vote. They began to yell then even throw objects at the women walking in the parade. Eventually, the police walked away giving the men the opportunity to attack.
Women’s Suffrage is always used as a subject matter that may clealry shows the dark history side connected with America. Women right history unfourtunately undergo through many ups and downs, mostly downs but succesfully ended with their rights being gained. Females, Were similar to black slaves at that time , they were treated unequally with men, which made women want to begin a revolution to change the ugly truth. In the society prior to 19th century , the females duties were mainly with taking proper care of the home and partner. This was their job in life, which was making life seem so demanding for them and they were only limited to do what their husband requests.
Why did it take so long for America to allow women’s suffrage during the Progressive Era? Progressives in America did analyze and attempt to solve the unjust and unfair problems that emerged with the increasing number of immigrants, unregulated businesses, urban cities, and economic disparity. There was exploitation of people by the rich and powerful. Even though women contributed behind the scenes during wars and started to represent in work forces, there was still opposition towards their right to vote. At that time, men of the country probably had the notion that women were still not educated enough to be involved in politics.
Women suffrage is women gaining the right to vote. Susan B. Anthony was a very important person in this movement. The first major meeting of women to discuss their rights was in Seneca Falls, NY. A document similar to the declaration of independence was written by women. It listed the grievances, or issues, that women had with society, it was named the Declaration of Sentiments.
Women's were a big event during the Progressive Era. The debate over women's suffrage stretched from the mid-1800's to the Progressive Era, a woman struggled to gain a voice in politics. This challenge the traditions of the women's role and ultimately succeeded in securing the 19th amendment. During the Progressive Era, the conflicts were women suffrage, the change of women during the Progressive Era, and the effects of the advancement of progressive. Women's had many struggles to get what they wanted.
In America during the 1920s, there were many positive and negative aspects of living in it. First, I will start with women. In the book when it says, “Wilson made an unprecedented appearance before the Senate to urge ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, which banned sexual discrimination in voting.” The right to vote in the United States was permanent, however finally giving women the right to vote in elections. During World War I, President Wilson promoted democracy contentiously, but this anti-democratic elimination of women’s rights went against his plan, so he promoted suffrage as a “vitally necessary war measure,” so Wilson pushed for suffrage and after 143 years, women became equal members in the political process.
Back from the early 1800's through the early 1900's women were expected to do anything and everything a man asked. The women started getting annoyed in the fact that they had no say in anything and doing as they were told. So, they decided to make a change, a move known as the women's suffrage movement. The women had a long and hard battle in front of them. The women of the suffrage movement from early 1800's through the early 1900's stood up for what they believed in and their rights.
In the 1800's there was a going on between men and women because the women were second-class citizens. Women were not allowed to get a real education or not able to have a professional job. When women got married, the women were no longer allowed to have the right to own their own property, they were not allowed to have their own money and make their own money, plus was not allowed to sign contracts. Women weren't even allowed to vote. In 1848 in Seneca Falls Convention in New York was were the Women Suffrage Movement started.
Suffrage (Voting rights) was a very hard to obtain power in the later 1800s and early 1900s. Women could not vote and african americans could not vote. In the 1920s women finally got the right to vote. Nearly 40 years after women can vote, african americans could too, and that ended segregation when it comes to voting.
Women’s Suffrage 1920’s Women were not born with the rights they have today, such as the right to vote, speak in public, access to equal education and so forth. However this did not prevent them from fighting for their rights. Women’s lives soon began to change as strong women leaders began to step up and make a move towards what they believed in. The 1920’s was a starting point for women to start living their lives differently than they had been doing before, due to gaining more freedom.

At the start of the 1800s, women would have had only one right and that was being a housewife. Although women had no rights, women later raised their voices in the Women’s Suffrage Movement.
And their traditional roles included staying home, rearing children and looking after their families. Women were not granted the right to vote until August 18th 1920 (The 19th Amendment, n.d.). The 19th Amendment to the U.S Constitution granted American women the right to vote—a right known as woman suffrage. This was only less than a hundred years ago, while men have been given that right since the beginning

The women’s suffrage movement was important because it resulted in passage of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which finally allowed women the right to vote.
