The definition of suffrage is the right to vote in political elections. Women’s suffrage was an issue that lasted from the mid 1800s to the early 1900s. All women wanted was a voice in politics. Eventually the Nineteenth Amendment was ratified and it was one of the greatest turning points in history for all of the women who fought for their right to vote. Before, they did not have any representation for themselves except their fathers and husbands until finally in 1920 when the amendment was passed. From that day forward, future generations of women were inspired to fight for equal rights.
